Smarter Living - Urban Agriculture is a conversation that needs to happen. Packed with interesting speakers on Wednesday 29 May 2019 from 7pm to 9pm at Box Hill Town Hall, 1022 Whitehorse Rd, Box Hill, this is a FREE event. However, you need to register for your FREE ticket to secure your spot. See three other Smarter Living Events further down the article, you might want to put in your diary.

Hosted by Manningham Council and Whitehorse City Council, come along and learn how neighbourhoods can work together to turn balconies, courtyards and backyards into highly productive food gardens and share the harvest amongst each other. Urban Agriculture is all about growing, harvesting and cooking food in an urban setting.

Speakers include Paul West, a chef turned urban farmer; he'll share his passion for locally grown and sustainable produce. His suburban backyard is an edible oasis. Michael Mobbs is the author of Sustainable Food, an environmental lawyer, urban farm designer and all-round sustainability guru, who turned an inner-city terrace into an almost entirely self-sufficient space. Ellen Regos is a team leader for the School Food Gardens Program at Cultivating Community. With 25 years as a teacher and educator in sustainability under her belt, growing food is just one of her passions.
