Hosted by Manningham Council and Whitehorse City Council, come along and learn how neighbourhoods can work together to turn balconies, courtyards and backyards into highly productive food gardens and share the harvest amongst each other. Urban Agriculture is all about growing, harvesting and cooking food in an urban setting.
Speakers includePaul West, a chef turned urban farmer; he'll share his passion for locally grown and sustainable produce. His suburban backyard is an edible oasis. Michael Mobbsis the author of Sustainable Food, an environmental lawyer, urban farm designer and all-round sustainability guru, who turned an inner-city terrace into an almost entirely self-sufficient space. Ellen Regos is a team leader for the School Food Gardens Program at Cultivating Community. With 25 years as a teacher and educator in sustainability under her belt, growing food is just one of her passions.
