Two Feet and a Heartbeat's Perth Small Bar tour highlights how Perth's nightlife has exploded in the last few years. With a formula of walk a little, eat a little and drink a little, this tour visits 3 small and intimate bars. Depending on the venue the group are served either grazing food or a drink to enjoy.

One of Perth's intimate small bars
We joined a group of 8 for the
Small Bar walking tour on a beautiful clear Perth night. Our guide pointed out 20 or so bars as we walked through the city, but this 3 hour tour only enabled the group to comfortably visit 3 bars. We spent about 45 minutes at each venue, soaking up the atmosphere and relaxing over food and drinks. By the end of the night, each of us on the tour had chosen a different favourite bar.

This small bar was hidden down an off the beaten path lane way
We met our guide at the Perth Town Hall and she took us to our first mystery small bar. This one had unassuming signage and a nondescript doorway that led upstairs to an intimate bar oozing with character and quirky features. Here we were served baskets of finger food and started to chat to the other tour participants over a drink. Our guide regaled us with tales of the venue's colourful past.

Oozing with character and quirky features
It seemed you would only ever find the next bar we went to, if you were taken there by someone "in the know". We were led down a secluded laneway adorned with street art to a Whiskey bar. Fortunately for me (who doesn't like whisky) they served us a refreshing punch that went down very easily. Our guide told us about numerous speciality bars around Perth from whiskey to vodka to sherry bars.

Our refreshing punch
Our final bar was set in a laneway bustling with a number of other bars. This was my favourite bar of the night as it was buzzing with life and ambience. By this time our group had loosened up and we didn't hold back as we dived in to enjoy the delicious gourmet pizzas.

Buzzing with life and delicious pizzas
We only covered short distances but were introduced to a diverse number of areas with a range of bars, from small and hidden to larger better known bars.

Two Feet and a Heartbeat Bars tour
As we walked around the city, our guide gave us a synopsis and history of the buildings and intriguing spaces we passed. This was indeed interesting and informative, but the emphasis of the tour was to introduce us to the hidden bar culture of Perth city.
This is a great tour to do with your partner or a group of friends to discover and taste the hidden nightlife of Perth's small and intimate venues.
