A fun new place, Smack DAB in the middle of things…
My three young adult kids treated me to late lunch on Sunday. The occasion: a belated Mother's Day celebration at the newly opened Smack Dab in Kelowna's waterfront district. It was a surprise for me, and I was treated to great food and memories.
We sat on the sunny and spacious patio with a wide view of Okanagan Lake, and poured over the extensive menu. The fresh choices made deciding difficult, but the tantalizing description of the falafal sandwich caught my attention. I requested it wrapped in lettuce and was happily accommodated. Fish tacones times two, an order of Smack DAB crazy fries (generously seasoned with garlic, parsley and lemon), and one hand formed, forno blistered Pesto Chicken crazy good pizza, and we were all happily munching and talking and laughing. It reminded me of how fun it is to reconnect with those you love over good food. Yum.
And beer. Smack DAB offers 12 unique beers on tap and 20 by the bottle, all tasty locally crafted and many exclusive that just can't be found anywhere else. A glass of Firehall Brewery Stoked Ember Ale quenched my thirst, but next time I look forward to taking a beer flight, 5 - 4 ounce glasses chosen from any of Smack DAB's craft draft beer selections.
A lively environment with young, competent, friendly and helpful staff, a huge waterfront patio, funky and comfortable dining room and the most tasty and memorable food I've had locally in quite some time, make Smack DAB the top choice of my 'replay' list.
And when you are there, look for your host Malcolm to seat you, assist you, and make your experience memorable.
