The picture of the Frenchie on the wall caught my eye first. When I saw the dumpling cartoons above, I knew this noodle and dumpling house was the place for me.

I surprised myself by how delighted I was with the House Pickled Seasonal Vegetables. They were lightly pickled and had a delightful snappy crunch. The Chicken and Water Chestnut Dumplings were tasty, but I would have preferred bigger pieces of water chestnut for a crunchier texture.

The House Handmade Big Wontons (left-hand side) are smothered in special chilli sauce and have a slow burn heat that is both slightly painful and addictive.

The pièce de résistance of the meal was the Pork Chives Dumplings. I order them every time I visit. They are umami without being too salty. My first love is dumplings, but the restaurant also caters for noodle fiends. The garlic and chicken noodles are on my hit list for next time.

My cousin swears by one of the house specialities, noodles in a copper pot. He described the noodles as springy with a good chew to them and a rich soup.

Everything is made made fresh to order, so I had a chance to look around and chat to the owner, Nicole. She said the business has been in operation for three years and while COVID-19 has been a challenge, she feels lucky to have a loyal local following.

I saw an aunty out the back making my dumplings, which added to the homely family-run feel. The staff were also friendly and the restaurant is a great addition to Rosebery.

There is also a Woolies Metro 50m away if you need to get groceries while you wait for your dumplings to be made. Street parking is free.
