The Werribee Zoo is a great place to take the family for a day with beautiful animals but the Slumber Safari is great for a romantic adventure weekend or night away with a group of friends.

The Slumber Safari is fairly expensive for one night, but it is well worth the expense.

The Safari starts at around 3pm where you meet staff, the rest of the group and settle in to the cabin tents with a double and two single beds per cabin, complete with an ensuite, that overlooks the Werribee Zoo Savannah.

Each camp differs but our first animal encounter was with a rhino where we got to pat, feed and take photos with the beautiful animal, our second one was with the gorillas where we got to watch them be fed and play around we each other.

Along with these great experiences we went on a nightwalk and for the early birds a walk to look for some more animals.

All meals are provided and it is BYO alcohol.

Dinner is eaten in the hut near camp overlooking the Zoo and a full buffet breakfast is eaten in the Meerkat Kiosk watching the adorable meerkats run around.

With amazing views, friendly and informative staff and of course the animals up close and personal the Slumber Safari is a Melbourne must do.
