Looking for something to do after your Sunday sleep-in, church attendance or long Sunday brunch? Seen all the latest film releases? Want to rekindle your appreciation of some by-gone classics or check out obscure films, documentaries or those cult movies you've never seen on the big screen? Well, Sundays are SLiQ Flicks days at the State Library of Queensland and what's more, they're all free.

[ADVERT]Each month the films on show are selected to tie in with the Library's current exhibitions and displays, or to popular current events. Previous themes include science fiction and architecture and in June 2012 the offerings will have a weird and wacky flavour in honour of The Odditoreum exhibition illustrator Shaun Tan's arrangement of curiosities and serendipitous finds from the vaults of the museum. July's films will explore traditional cultures and issues of displacement and August will pay homage to sporting achievements and great moments in sport to mark the 30th Olympiad in London.

Most movies are programmed in advance but in a nicely democratic touch, you get to vote for what you'd like to see on the last Sunday of every month YOUr Flicks. Choices for 24 June are Shutter Island, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life or Fellini's Satyricon and you can find out more information about the films here.

SLiQ Flicks also presents a special Carers Session for parents, carers and children on the last Wednesday of each month. For two months you can also vote for the film you'd like to see at this session. June 2012 choices are The Prestige, Return to Oz or The Blue Light.
