It's a race to Brisbane's brand new go kart racing track
A sneak peek of the brand new multi-level race track of Slideways Go Karting in Brisbane was already visible from the car park. I couldn't believe we were finally there after many months of excitedly waiting for the renovations to finish.
Following the friendly welcome by the centre staff, we got to admire the shiny new racing track in a viewing area where we also signed online indemnity forms. With its neon lights and reflective surface, the track is a beauty.
After a short safety briefing, we were given head covers and helmets to wear during the race. We were also provided with mini-lockers where we could place any loose items that shouldn't accompany us during the race.
It was time to get into our go karts that stood ready in three rows - these are not just any go karts, it's the latest European state of the art machines. Staff came by to check that our helmets were tight and that we were safely seated in our go karts. One even kindly captured this great photo of us ready to race.
Driving onto the track felt unreal after dreaming about it for so long. Not having go karted there before, I started off relatively slowly to get a feel for it first. Hubby, however, was already racing past me, having the time of his life!
There's so much to love about this thrilling 425m long track and the way its safely run by the staff. Every part of racing on this track was enjoyable - from taking each turn, speeding up or down every level change to sliding around the corners. I can only describe it all as EPIC.
Our first race was over way too quickly as one comes to expect when you are having too much fun. Immediately after the race, the scores were up on the board - mmm, not our best! We couldn't wait to do better in the next session - we were ready to push harder.
During our 20 minute break before our second race, we enjoyed some of the snacks and beverages on offer in the centre and took some photos of the fun props. We had a good laugh sharing our race stories with each other.
At the start of our second race, we were ready to do better. Having completed one round, I felt a lot more comfortable enjoying the action of sliding my go kart around the corners of the track - it's super exciting.
Having the occasional bump into the track wasn't scary at all as I thought it might be and usually short-lived due to the staff around the track that are always on hand to assist.
Whether you are looking for something fun to do or to give someone an adventurous experience as a gift, you can't go wrong with the new track at Slideways Go Karting Brisbane. Visit www.gokartingbrisbane.com.au to book.
