Slideapalooza will be held at Calais Estate in the Hunter Valley over four days from 26th - 29th January 2017. There are a range of festival options to choose from including charity fundraising, a world record attempt, family fun, 5K fitness or festival day sessions.
On Australia Day, Thursday 26th January 2017, there will be an official attempt at the Guinness World Record for the longest inflatable waterslide. The record is currently held by a 600 metre long slide in New Zealand, however the Slideapalooza slide will be 650 metres long - fingers crossed we can officially beat the Kiwis on Australia Day.
To gain a ride on the monster slide (and achieve world's longest slide rider bragging rights) you need to be one of the top 1000 fundraisers. This option is for the over 18's only. For more information about how the world record attempt session works please click here.
In terms of fundraising the event has partnered up with charity organisation Tour de Cure Australia, who pedal around the country taking the Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy message to schools. This charity also works with multiple local cancer organisations helping them in their fight to prevent and cure cancer.
On Friday 27th and Sunday 29th January, children and families are invited to the festival. There will be numerous waterslides to ride in your three hour session, food and beverage stalls as well as some non-slide family fun. Saturday 28th January is Festival Day which will include plenty of sliding action, live music and a night event including DJ. The morning event is the Slide N Sprint, open to those 15 years of age and older. It is a 5km course where you start by sprinting to a slide, enjoy the ride and recover on the way down, then run up the hill for another round. The course involves 600 metres of running and 400 metres of sliding per lap and it will take 5 laps to finish in a 50 minute session. The organisers will be donating $1 for every completed lap from every competitor to Tour de Cure Australia.
From 12 noon until 4pm you can join the Slide N Sounds session involving unlimited sliding on 3 x 400m slides, live music, food trucks and beverages. There will be four live acts on stage and a water balloon battle arena.
The Saturday evening event, Slide N Lights, promises glow sticks, a DJ, dancing and sliding as the sun goes down plus a fireworks display. The Slide N Sounds and Slide N Lights session are for those 18 years and over only. For more information or to purchase tickets click here.
