While others might be lapping it up down the beach, if you stayed home in Melbourne it is nice to know that there is still some cool fun to be had in the heart of the city.

And when that cool fun is on at Fed Square, then everyone knows where to find it.

Slide The Square is an event where you can get wet in Melbourne's sweltering heat and have a splashing good time of it.

As you can see from the photos, it is a giant inflatable water slide.

There are 75 metres of slip 'n' slide fun, for just one week in January.

This is for families, groups of friends or come on your own for an exhilarating ride down the slope of The Square. You don't even have to wear bathers as even your summer clothes will do.

Then if it is really hot, you can stay cool in your wet duds.

Ticket prices include the use of an inflatable to ensure you enjoy a smooth ride. Plus with all the gorgeous colours of the equipment this is a sight to behold.

And it isn't just one slide only, as you get a 50 minute sessions which allows for all kinds of interesting poses and unique methods of slip sliding along.

And if you are into selfies, and who isn't, the Fed Cam will be streaming live images of Slide The Square to and from time to time the images can also be viewed on the Big Screen.

Although Fed Cam footage is live and not recorded, so if you do make an ass of yourself then it won't got down in history.

So if the weather's hot and the feeling strikes, you go for it.

You can buy tickets through Ticketmaster or at the ticket booth on Swanston St Forecourt during the event.

For safety reasons, all participants must be at least 110cm tall to slide.

The slide is also sustainable as water used from Slide The Square is 100% recycled into tanks to water Fed Square's gardens.

Please note a $3.95 booking fee per transaction applies to online, phone and outlet purchases. Additional fees may apply. Having read that here is the link to Ticketmaster.

I'm adding this to my list of great wet fun in the city this summer. Other cool-you-down experiences worth looking into are the pool parties at the iconic pool at the Adelphi Hotel (for over 18s) and the Langham's Summer Pool Club, where you can enjoy using a fine hotel pool all through the long hot summer.
