Any pizza lover worth their salt knows Brooklyn is home to some of the world's best pizzerias - the beloved Totonno's, iconic Grimaldi's, Famous Joe's and trendy Roberta's are just some of Brooklyn's finest. In fact, there are countless blogs, books, television shows and even bus tours dedicated to Brooklyn's love of New Yorkapolitan Pizza. Here's what's makes a slice New Yorkapolitan:Derived from the Neapolitan style pizza, the dough is made from high-gluten bread flour and the base is hand-tossed.The hand-tossed base results in a thin crust which remains crisp on the edge, whilst the middle of the pizza flexible and usually folded in half when eaten.New York-style pizzas where originally baked in coal brick ovens - today many pizzerias use woodfire or electric stone based ovens to achieve the same controlled high temperature and crisp base.
New Yorkapolitan Pizza takes those New York-style pizzas and gives them an extra blast of heat and shorter cook time (like Neapolitan pizza) to blend the best of both styles.Feeling hungry? Well, you don't need to book a flight to Brooklyn to enjoy traditional New Yorkapolitan pizza! Just head to Adelaide's newest pizzeria, Slice of Brooklyn Pizzeria, on the corner of King William and Grenfell Street (formerly the home of Sushi Train).Owned and managed by a true New Yorker, is a celebration of Brooklyn's historical food scene and dynamic culture. The premium pizzeria is fitted out with rustic, industrial decor and comfortably sits around 25 patrons.
