Hey readers, Sleeping Dogs is a game released on August 14th 2012. Developed by United Front Games and published by Square Enix. Originally Activision was going to publish the game, however they backed out and Enix took over. They had to change the name from True Crime to Sleeping Dogs because of copyright. Sleeping Dogs is a open world action adventure game set in Hong Kong.

The story revolves around an under cover police officer who goes by the name of Wei Shen who is Chinese-American. He goes undercover to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organisation. There are many different aspects to the game, such as driving around in cars, boats and motorcycles. In foot chase scenes you are also able to free run. One of my personal favourite aspects of the game is the combat scenes. You get to use weapons such as knives and guns. Mainly it's hand to hand combat with throws and counter strikes.

I find that the controls and game play are fluent. The combat system plays a lot like Batman Arkham Asylum, fighting multiple enemies most of the time. There are a lot of Grand Theft Auto elements to this game, however I prefer sleeping dogs just for the combat system and story line. If you are a Grand Theft Auto fan, you will definitely like this.

The game also features a levelling system which allows you to upgrade your character by learning new moves and gaining more health. This is split into two different titles; you have Police experience and Triad experience both gained in many ways. There's a little nifty side mission where you can use CCTV to bust drug dealers and so on. This is a great way to boost up your police experience.

Sleeping Dogs is a great open-world game with a lot to do. You can either do the main quests or just go for those optional missions. I recommend this game to anyone over the age of 18 as there are a lot of swearing and violence within the game. The only downside I can think of is that the side missions can get a bit repetitive but mix it in with the main missions and it will be fine to play constantly.

The game has pretty good graphic, amazing scenery and the voice acting is one of the best I've heard in a while for an open-world game like this.

What's your favourite genre of game?
