On a hill overlooking the old gold-mining town of St Arnaud is an old haunted Convent. This Convent, originally known as Francis Xavier's boarding college, was run by the Sisters of Mercy from 1903 through 1986. The Federation Gothic-style convent, now a bed and breakfast, is steeped in history and religious-inspired beauty, making it a popular venue for weddings.
However, according to the owners, the spirit of the nuns still lingers, adding an extra layer of mystery and intrigue to your stay!
In this event, you get to stay the night. After you arrive, Kyneton Paranormal runs a four-hour paranormal investigation with state-of-the-art ghost-hunting equipment, including EMF meters, infrared cameras, and EVP recorders, that you can use the whole night if you wish to. A psychic medium will help you connect with the venue spirits or your own.
Eleven rooms have double beds so you can share a room with a partner/friend. Organisers also supply a late-night supper and coffee and pastries for breakfast.
Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. so you can explore this fascinating town with plenty of eateries. St Arnaud is between Avoca and Donald.
Checkout is at 11:00. You will need that extra sleep-in if you have been waiting for and monitoring ghostly activity all night.
The experience includes the ghost tour, supper and breakfast, light refreshments, use of ghost-hunting equipment, overnight accommodations in a double or large room, and late checkout. Prices are per person, not per room.
They can organise a private tour if you have a group of 10.

Old Convent St Arnaud
St Arnaud is roughly a 2.5-hour drive northwest of Melbourne. To make a weekend of it, the town is close to wineries, and there is an excellent
silo art trail . The St Arnaud Historical Society has produced a self-guided tour booklet (walk or drive) of the historical buildings around town, purchased from the Tourist Information Centre or various town shops. St Arnaud has some great little shops, cafés, bakeries and pubs. There are also some charming gardens, including the Queen Mary Gardens, which has a pond and exotic trees, and the Market Square Gardens adjacent to the council offices. Drive 28 minutes, and you can explore Wedderburn, where there are five large-scale murals by acclaimed mural artists Andrew J Bourke, Jimmy Dvate and Bryan Itch on the main street as well as on the façade of the local church. These stunning murals celebrate the unique birdlife of the surrounding conservation area.
