Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep is one of those under rated health issues. Without adequate sleep it is hard to function, make decisions and have enough energy for the day. There are also many other physical health impacts. An upcoming public lecture presented by Arthritis SA will talk about sleep and the impacts on your health.
Lack of sleep can lead to ongoing fatigue, weight gain or loss and daytime drowsiness. It affects the way we think and in some cases paradoxically lead to increased energy and enhanced mood. A common perception is that sleep is a time when the mind and body shut down. However sleep is actually an active period in which a lot of important restoration, processing and strengthening occurs. Our slumber is the subject of much research. As it is still not known exactly how all this happens.
This public lecture will feature leading researcher Dr Siobhan Banks, to talk about the impacts of sleep deprivation on your health and gain knowledge on getting a better night's sleep.
The date to put on your calendar is Wednesday February 24th, 2016, 7pm - 8.30pm. This lecture is presented for the nominal fee of $10 general, $5 concession and free to Arthritis SA members. The location is at Arthritis SA - 118 Richmond Road, Marleston SA 5033.
