Recently in Gladstone for a quick visit and overnight stay, I booked the " Curtis Central Apartments " in Goondoon Street . As the name suggests the apartments are in the central part of the city and far stretching views of the city and river can be viewed from the balcony. Cane table and chairs are furnished on each balcony for that relaxing drink before dinner.

Our unit was on the seventh floor so our view at night was spectacular, yet the view by day was just as scenic, giving a good view of the city and geographic landmarks if you knew the direction in which you needed to visit.

Curtis Central Apartments have a 4.5 star rating with one and two bedroom suites are available. Standard overnight apartment rate is $115; however weekly or extended long term rates are available on request. I was very impressed by the spacious rooms which extruded a fresh atmosphere as you first walked into the room. I also like the fact that as you walked through the door, you walked into a small entry before moving into the lounge and kitchen area. Nothing was out of place and two chocolates were left on the bed for our arrival.

Each apartment offers free Wi-Fi, free Foxtel, fully equipped laundry and gourmet kitchen and furnished with designer decor which included Italian styled leather sofas. One of the things I value when travelling is free secure undercover parking and this is part of the accommodation hire when you visit Curtis Central Apartments.

I really wished I was staying for a week to enjoy this beautiful property and not just overnight.

Gladstone is 500km from Brisbane and although mainly an industrial city, it is close to The Great Barrier Reef which is considered one of the best places for fishing and scuba driving in the World. Beach towns of Tannum Sands , Agnes Waters and Town of 1770 are in close proximity for day or weekend visits from Gladstone.

Before leaving Gladstone we lunched at " Jamaica Blue Cafe " in the Stockland Shopping Centre on the corner of Dawson Highway and Phillip Street Gladstone. The choice of meals provided was excellent and I chose a pumpkin lasagne and salad with my friend choosing chicken crepes and of course with a cup of coffee for each of us for a kick start on the voyage home.

As we were enjoying our meal, a staff member came around and gave various tables a Jamaican Blue Cloth bag in an enclosed plastic wrap as a gift for patronage. What a nice gesture. It's very colourful and will definitely come in handy.

Jamaica Blue Cafe's are franchised owned; however each owner making it their own by added touches their generosity and staff professionalism. Each member of the staff at Gladstone's Jamaica Blue Cafe was friendly and looked neat in their uniforms. It was nice to also hear laughter among the staff, yet still maintaining the excellent service to their customers.

I would definitely choose both these venues next time I visit Gladstone, only I hope it is for a longer stay.
