Slavic culture at its best will be seen here
The beautiful land of rivers and mountains, Macedonia is the only place in Europe where you can find ruby gemstones. It's the country where the Cyrillic alphabet was founded, the Slavic literacy started and indeed the first wireless broadband connection in the world started. It is many other things and is also the motherland of Alexander the Great and the popular and hard-working Mother Teresa.

The Macedonian food is inspired by the Mediterranean, however, it also reflects the Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. It has many varieties of herbs making its meat meals full of delightful odours, has great wines and local alcoholic beverages such as rakija. They have a very rich culture in Macedonia and this is seen by their customs, poetry, legends, colourful costumes, great folklore and memorable music. The rich cultural heritage uses very picturesque traditional folk costumes, decorations and ornaments.

And now you can discover some of this culture of the Slavs at the Slavic Markets Brisbane.

The Brisbane Slavic Markets is a regular event which is being held every first Sunday of the month. This means that the next one will be on Sunday 4th August 2019 from 10.00 am till 3.00 pm. The venue for this market will be 140 Main St, Kangaroo Point. You can book at this link and the cost is $2.

It is not a huge market but it is a vibrant united Slavic community market for everyone interested in top-quality Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Serbian and other Slavic countries' products. Visitors will have fun and enjoy a creative home-like atmosphere with traditional and modern music. There will also be some delicious homemade food and drinks where you can stock up on excellent products direct from Slavic communities small and home-based businesses.

Every first Sunday of the month organisers are all going to have a great reason to join in with friends, meet new people, socialise and find soulmates. While you are there you can sample some of the following:

Strong coffee with zephyr marshmallows
Compote with kebabs
Siberian wild leaf tea with famous honey cake

Try borsch
Stock up on cakes
Bakery goods

Best caviar

And all this while enjoying spirited music of modern and not-so-modern Slavic music. For all who are interested, you can also see and purchase unique and authentic Slavic art and craft, designer jewellery and handmade fashion created by talented representatives of the Slavic community.

For anyone who wants to feel like they are at home and at peace - i.e. joyful, delightful, and cosy, this is the market for you! And also for everyone who wants to learn anything about and share the interesting Slavic culture.

If you happen to be a Slavic small business or an artist and you can see Slavic Markets as a great opportunity to make your business thrive, please enquire via this Facebook page and they will get back to you.

These markets will be just that bit different to ordinary markets and should be fun learning about another culture and their ways and what they sell.
