Coffee and sweet treats for office zombies on St Kilda Road
My office has a Nespresso machine. It's free, there are a wide variety of capsule flavours, and they even have soymilk and a milk frother.

Lemon Tart (excuse the bite...)

But at 3:30pm, when my lower back hurts from sitting in the same position and my eyes hurt from staring at a computer screen, it's nice to go for a refreshing walk down St Kilda Road to Slater St. Bench for a real coffee (and maybe a lamington).

Jars of granola in case you need to eat breakfast at your desk.

I'd say it's even nicer going somewhere that the baristas know your name, but the boys from Drugstore Espresso seem to have gotten me mixed up with someone called Emily who always orders a filter coffee. Regardless of my coffee doppelganger, being greeted with a happy smile (and the offer of a free afternoon snack if it happens again!) is enough of a reason to leg it down to the corner of Slater Street and St Kilda Road.

Where the magic happens.

An even better reason is that the boys put on a good brew and dessert spread something St Kilda Road is sorely lacking and on the odd occasion they even have almond milk.

Clement Coffee

Serving Clement Coffee and a huge assortment of snacks from a wide range of bakeries, the space they have created is a welcome retreat from the daily office grind.

Always too much choice with locally sourced afternoon tea.

Bench seating lines the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the waist-high counter on the opposite wall gives you something to lean against while eyeing off fancy-looking Bahen & Co chocolate.

Bahen & Co. chocolate, beautifully wrapped.

The center oasis is where the magic happens, with on-trend rose gold finishes and plenty of timber set off by the polished concrete underfoot. Natural sunlight rounds out the perfect little cure for 3:30-itis.

Iced coffee: milk and long black

This summer I'll be popping down for the bottled iced long black coffee, although it also comes made with cow's milk for anyone lucky enough to be born with the ability to process milk.

Chocolate mud cake with a raspberry jam centre - the best lamington I've ever eaten.

Aside from the welcoming hipster-feel, I mainly come for the assortment of cakes and slices. The best thing I've eaten so far is the raspberry lamington: a delicious take on an Aussie favourite with chocolate sponge cake sandwiched with raspberry jam. The white chocolate rocky road is also moreish.

With so many delicious looking desserts, I hope they mistake me for "Emily" again soon.
