But at 3:30pm, when my lower back hurts from sitting in the same position and my eyes hurt from staring at a computer screen, it's nice to go for a refreshing walk down St Kilda Road to Slater St. Bench for a real coffee (and maybe a lamington).
Jars of granola in case you need to eat breakfast at your desk.
I'd say it's even nicer going somewhere that the baristas know your name, but the boys from Drugstore Espresso seem to have gotten me mixed up with someone called Emily who always orders a filter coffee. Regardless of my coffee doppelganger, being greeted with a happy smile (and the offer of a free afternoon snack if it happens again!) is enough of a reason to leg it down to the corner of Slater Street and St Kilda Road.
The center oasis is where the magic happens, with on-trend rose gold finishes and plenty of timber set off by the polished concrete underfoot. Natural sunlight rounds out the perfect little cure for 3:30-itis.
Aside from the welcoming hipster-feel, I mainly come for the assortment of cakes and slices. The best thing I've eaten so far is the raspberry lamington: a delicious take on an Aussie favourite with chocolate sponge cake sandwiched with raspberry jam. The white chocolate rocky road is also moreish.
