Forever in search of new food, good wine and fun experiences to share.

So new it's not (officially) open yet
$3 takeaway coffee in Perth? Yes, it is possible.
Although it isn't completely finished, newly opened Slate Cafe is already ticking all the boxes.
Currently offering takeaway coffee and limited seating, this cafe has already become a favourite with the locals and has big plans ahead. This family run business is supporting local providers, using Fiori Coffee and Bannister Downs milk, and offers meals such as bagels, toasties and burgers as well as a beautiful range of slices and gluten free goodies.
Although primarily takeaway at the moment, the inside is already warm and welcoming
Although it doesn't look like much from the main road yet, there is a lot hiding behind this tin shed. Currently in construction is an extensive indoor and outdoor seating area, a large grassed area and an indoor and outdoor playground.
Unassuming from the main road but worth the detour!
If this wasn't enough, I haven't even mentioned my two favourite things. They have applied for a liquor license and have planted trees around the cafe where children will be encouraged to pick and taste the fruits.
3 takeaway coffee, large areas for the kids and dogs to play AND booze. I think this may just become my second home really soon.
My verdict so far? The coffee is good, food looks good (so far I have only tried a cream cheese bagel, which is hard to get wrong) and the staff are incredibly friendly. In fact, if you happen to pop in when the owner is around, I suggest asking him for a tour. He is more than happy to talk about his project and show you around.
I look forward to watching this cafe grow and exploring their menu as it expands.
