Skyfire 2017 is back for another year with a firework spectacular over Lake Burley Griffin. Avoid the crowds and get there early, with plenty of pre-firework entertainment starting from 6pm until the night finishes at 9:30pm. The main hub of the event will be at Regatta Point at Commonwealth Park with a free concert by Busby Marou and DJ Horizon (also look out for Home & Away star Jackson Heywoood, who plays Brodey), as well as jet flyovers from Ran Squirrels and the FA18 Hornet. Also at Regatta Point there will be VIP areas, food trucks, show bag stands and glow sticks to buy for for the night ahead.
Elsewhere around Lake Burley Griffin, there will also be food outlets, showbags, inflatable jumping castles and obstacle courses in the Family Zone at Patrick White Lawns (in front of the National Library of Australia). Costs apply. There will also be food outlets, glow sticks and more at Queen Elizabeth Terrace (in front of the International Flag Display) and Rond Terrace, on the other side of the lake.
Each year the fireworks start at 8:30pm. See the radio 104.7 website for all the latest details, public transport info, road closures and parking info. Public transport is recommended.
