All this staying close-to-home and restricted travel business is giving me the heebie-jeebies. What about you? I recently stumbled across parkland on the Logan River which offers a day out amongst nature and provided a much needed change of scenery. Let me tell you about it ...
at Carbrook sits beside the waterfront, making it popular with fishermen and kayak/canoe enthusiasts. There is separate access for these interests with both a designated pontoon and boat ramp area.
Plenty of open grassy spaces allow for picnicking as well as for ball games. The undercover gazebos are spacious and include tables and chairs making them suitable for family outings or catch ups with friends.
There are barbeques, though they are of the old fashioned wood type, not gas. Personally I would recommend packing an esky with picnic food or stopping for a hot chook and bread rolls on the drive to the destination.
Toilet facilities are available, including wheelchair access.
The youngsters will just love the playground equipment shaded by beautiful gums and keep them occupied for hours. It includes a climbing dome, play fort, swings and rockers. "
Wear the little blighters out" has always been one of my mottos.
Finally, you don't have to leave the canine members of your family at home as there are also designated off-leash areas - one for small dogs, and one for large. They even come with gazebos and river views.
I still have a need to escape though outings and this certainly helps to clear the cobwebs.
is located at the end of Skinners Road in Carbrook and car parking is plentiful.
