Help bring back the mullet

'The land mullet is one of the largest members of the skink family, sometimes reaching lengths of up to 60cm. They are usually glossy black to brown, with a paler ring around the eye. Their colour, along with their large size, allows them to maintain a body temperature of approximately 30 degrees Celsius, spending much of the day basking in the sun. Adult males have slightly shorter bodies but slightly longer forelimbs and heads than adult females. It is long-lived - with one captive female lizard known to have lived for at least 23 years.'

Have you perhaps seen the Land Mullet (
Bellatorias major) in and around your property? Over the past forty years, sightings of the Land Mullet on the Sunshine Coast have significantly declined, and the public’s assistance is needed to help understand why this is happening.
Come along to the
Skink on the Brink Workshop, for a morning of conversation and discussion around the ecology and distribution of the Land Mullet and to explore local strategies for its conservation.
