Science, critical thinking and reason

This October brings the 36th annual Australian Skeptics convention- Skepticon 2020. Due to the pandemic, this year's convention will be held online rather than face to face, which at least is good news for those of us who would otherwise have been too far away to attend.

The convention brings together speakers from across the globe giving talks and panel discussions on many topics, including:

  • Science communicator Dr Karl Kruszelnicki on great moments in skeptical science.

  • Doctor Michael Folay on water fluoridation.

  • Clinical psychologist Gary Bakker on Donald Trump.

  • Professor Jonti Horner on the search for alien worlds.

  • Michael Marshall of the Merseyside Skeptics Society, on flat earthers.

  • Dr Alice Howarth, cohost of the Skeptics with a K podcast, on the pseudoscience.

See the event program for further details on the speakers and panel discussions.

The event runs all weekend Saturday 24th and Sunday 25 of October. It will be live-streamed via YouTube (with instructions for attendance sent via email after purchasing a ticket) and there will be an opportunity to ask Dr Karl questions ahead of time.

Tickets are available from the event website at $45 for concession (with a valid concession card) and $65 for general admission.

Come along (virtually speaking) and be part of the longest-running skeptical event in the world!
