Ice skating is happening in Sunny Queensland this winter in crisp and cool Toowoomba. Skating At have set up their ice skating rink on the Village Green beside the Toowoomba Regional Library, Herries St in the city.
For three weeks from 22 June to 15 July 2018 during the school holidays, your children can have the coolest experience learning to ice skate. There's ample skate hire onsite, plus coaching and questions answered by friendly marshals. Your children can slide along the ice riding on a blue kangaroo, while you push from behind. All learners can use the kangaroos for balance.
If it's a sunny day, all the better to enjoy being on the ice. Two big chiller plants pumping chemical coolant keep the (town water) ice at minus 40! Mind the conditions of entry as spraying of ice (skid-stops) are not permitted.
If you're new to skating, find confidence from this easy first lesson online. Don't be discouraged by beginner-falls. These happen at every attempt at a new technique. You and your friends could be the next ice-dancers, pair-skaters or free-skaters to reach the top. But most of all you should have fun.
The unforgettable team of Torvill & Dean began at ages 9 and 10, at the Nottingham ice-rink. Here's their dazzling ice dance routine, Bolero, performed in 1994.
