Be a rebel on wheels
Perth's largest roller skating rink, Skate International can be found in the northern suburb of Malaga. It features a large sprung timber skate floor, a grandstand for spectators, a private function room, a large café, and multiple party rooms.

When I took the kids there, they were so excited to get onto the rink, we raced down the stairs to the skate hire counter. They were even more excited when they found out they could choose between hiring rollerskates or rollerblades.

The general session was fun with the DJ blaring the music out of the professional sound system. Games like 'Spin the Pin' are 'Speed Skating' were also included within the session. Staff members also came into the rink and helped out with popular group dances like The Birdie Dance and YMCA. All these activities added a bit of variety to the skate session.

This is also one of the few rinks in Perth that have 'Adults Only' skating sessions, so for those who prefer to have a kid free skate, this would be perfect. They also offer Family Skate sessions, Disco sessions as well as Learn to Skate sessions for beginners and the Swan City Derby Dames, a local roller derby team call this rink their home.

Birthday parties are popular and are very reasonably priced and are inclusive of skate hire, food, drinks and party bags.

The kids had an awesome time here although there was a mix up when we arrived as the staff member we spoke to over the phone had told us different information so there was a bit of a delay getting onto the rink. My advice, ask a clear question over the phone and make sure you get the name of the person you spoke to, as mine didn't seem like an isolated incident and there were other annoyed parents at the rink.

However, the kids had a great time and we stayed for about 3 hours and the kids loved skating round and round and round on the rink.
