Nothing says winter like donning some ice skates out of doors - while not exactly a frozen lake, Skate in the City brings the winter festivities to the city. In the heart of Civic, just a short walk from the Canberra Centre, there is an ice rink adorned with fairy lights for those evening sessions and a snow pen, for the little ones.
Between now and the 28th July, head down for a skate - the 90 minute sessions run from 10am, every 2 hours until 8pm (though there are late night sessions at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturday nights).
Check the website here for dress up sessions and ice shows throughout the month.
My 4 year old absolutely adored it, and really took to the ice using the penguin for balance. While the under 5's are free, it's worth paying the $7 for a penguin as they provide much needed confidence and stability.
