Sizzlefest at Prahran Market, 163 Commercial Rd, South Yarra on Sunday 2 February 2020 from 10am to 3pm celebrates all things barbeque. Everyone loves a summer barbeque, so be sure not to miss this one as the Market includes its annual Sausage Tasting Competition from 11am to 1pm at the event. In light of recent events, GOLD COIN DONATIONS will be invited to participate, and all proceeds will go to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. There will also be other fundraising initiatives taking place on the day.
All the butchers and poulterers of Bracher Arcade will be putting their best sausage forward, vying for the coveted prize, and guess what! YOU help decide by tasting and voting with your gold coin donation. The winner of the Market's best sausage will be announced on Tuesday 4 February.
The day kicks off with a 10am kid's workshop with Tobie Puttock and Eat For Life: Grilled Watermelon Salad. Free demonstrations will take place all day in the Omega Neil Perry Kitchen, including Hoy Pinoi - Filipino BBQ, Burn City Smokers ; preparing meat for smoking. There's also Kin San of Wasshoi; charcoal chicken and demos by Bodriggy Brewing Co chefs and Bente Grysbaek.
Grilling related inspirations abound across the Market, including tastes and eats of meat, seafood, and meat-free products. Be sure to look in on Market Square for all things grilling, smoking and BBQ-ing. Grab yourself a glass of something chilled to go with all the tasty grilled eats.
There will be plenty of food to enjoy or take home, be you a meat lover, pescatarian, vegetarian or vegan. Traders will be popping up in Market Square including Prahran Seafood - Grilled Prawns and Calamari, Sweet Greek – Saganaki, Mr Hoddle - Smoked Mozzarella salad and house-smoked ribs and Gary's Meats. As well as guest pop-ups from Burn City Smokers and Hoy Pinoy, so be sure to head to this food lovers Market on the day.
