, Iluka, to me, is a reflection of everything I love about the nicest parks Perth has to offer; its pristine beauty and exquisite composure offers a private and picturesque experience unlike any other.

Weddings are momentous, epic events and encapsulates that essence. With an amphitheatre, a boardwalk and three man-made lakes, waterfalls over rocks and fountains, barbeque areas, a dog-friendly and children-friendly atmosphere complete with a playground – the park has it all!

Everything except of course, mass tourists and picnic chaos.

Hidden away in lovely suburban Iluka, 20 minutes north of Perth, is a hidden gem that I never knew existed until I looked outside the box for wedding ceremony locations.

For it was here that I myself chose to get married on Saturday, October 1. Blissfully unaware of the excitement of the AFL Grand Final on the same day, there was only one thing on my mind, and that was marrying the man I love after a four year engagement.

With my heart set on a venue like Kings Park, which I am not denying its beauty for a second; when I realised how many rules and regulations there were in place in order to get married and have photos taken - it just wasn't worth the hassle.

Instead after searching around I came across a very discrete Google search which mentioned , but in no way advertised it.

I started looking for more information on this elusive location, and found a wedding photographer that had indeed taken beautiful photos in the park and I immediately fell in love with it. It really had it all. The feature I was most attracted to though, was the amphitheatre; that was exquisite.

So without the need for elaborate decorations, the amphitheatre was lovely just on its own. With the juxtaposition of the bush and suburbia, it was perfect.

Moments away from Currambine shops and the bustling hub which is Joondalup; not a trace of this is reflected in the serenity of the park.

Many dogs are always visible as are ducks paddling in the lakes, however one would not realise this as the cleanliness of the park is outstanding at all times. The City of Joondalup does an excellent job of maintaining this to these standards. The grass is always perfectly manicured as are the gardens.

So whether you wish to spend a Saturday with the kids, take the dog and have a barbecue or you desire a romantic picnic with a loved one, is the place.
