Beat social isolation boredom & channel your inner artist
Want a fun way to spend nights in? Try a virtual paint and sip class. Paint for Fun, a Melbourne based 4-year young company, runs painting events at restaurants and studios around the city, and now offers live virtual classes so that you can beat social isolation boredom and reconnect with family and friends in a fun and creative way.
Paint for Fun virtual paint and sip class - a whole lot of fun.
Once you have booked into an event, order a Paint at Home couples kit for $55 ($59 for a family kit), which arrives via post at your doorstep, with all the supplies you need - 2 blank canvases, acrylic paints, and four different sized paintbrushes. Alternatively, you can use what you have at home or buy your supplies at a local art store.
Before the class, prepare a cleared table covered with plastic (yes, it gets messy), a jar of clean water, old cloth, snacks and drinks, then zoom into a relaxing and fun evening of painting. Each class is taught by one of the six Paint for Fun team members and caters to everyone young and old, and no prior experience is necessary.
Preparation for Paint for Fun's virtual paint and sip class.
We joined Livv Francavilla's class on "Dragonflies", along with six other eager artists in the making. Evening classes start at 6:45pm, allowing enough time to set up after the work or school day. There are afternoon classes available on the weekends too. In the two-hour interactive class, we learnt how to prepare colours, work with the canvas, dilute paints, and use different brush strokes to create a colourful canvas dotted with dragonflies. You will not believe how quickly the time passes!
Paint for Fun virtual classes can host a maximum of 25 participants.
Paint for Fun classes are a relaxing and fun way to bond with family, connect with friends, celebrate an occasion (check out Mother's Day classes this Sunday), or team build with colleagues, all while learning something new. The minimum for a private onsite class (post-social isolation) is 15 people and maximum 120, and for virtual classes, a minimum of 10 and maximum of 25. The 2 hour online class for 2 people, costs $25 - great value for money. So go on, book in a session to reconnect with your inner artist, enjoy a relaxing and stimulating evening of fun, and create your own masterpiece.
