Scrumptious finds at Scrumptious Reads bookstore
Scrumptious Reads bookshop (located in James Street market) introduced Sinmei Tea to Brisbanites last September. Hailing from Hong Kong, this tea café specialises in – you guessed it – tea. They also serve scrumptious desserts in their small but cosy café, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

I have visited Sinmei Tea on two occasions, and both visits have not let me down. Their iced matcha drinks are rich in flavour and colour. They go especially well with their earl grey angel cake – a serious must-try item if you are a fan of tea and cake. The combination of drink and dessert makes for a perfect afternoon.

Their matcha lava cake was also great, overflowing with matcha goodness from the very first bite. Sadly, this Brisbane store does not serve the famous sizzling matcha brownie (served on a hot plate with ice cream and matcha sauce) that the Hong Kong counterpart has, due to the dangers of being located in a bookstore. Nevertheless, Sinmei Tea Brisbane is bound to leave you satisfied after your visit. With a range of teas and desserts to choose from, it's hard to find an item on their menu that you wouldn't want to try.

If you happen to be in James Street market, perhaps you can drop by Sinmei Tea to see what's in store for you. Sinmei Tea also has some interesting combinations such as their 'Matcha Mojito' drink, so if you're in for a food adventure, they've got you covered.
