The is a large time-showing instrument situated at the gateway to Rose Point Park. It has been considered the southern hemisphere's biggest sundial and also one of the biggest in the world. You can easily spot it along Ryan Avenue.

The sundial was built to commemorate the bicentennial of Australia. True north geodetic survey was first established, and then, construction followed. Four tradesmen took twelve days to complete the intricate work. On the 20th of March 1987, the erected sundial was officially gifted to the community of Singleton.

The sundial also signifies a link between the old way of showing time and the new bicentennial project development. Rose Point Park features not only the sundial but also recreational and sporting facilities as well as the river and picnic areas.

Being a sundial, the best time to visit would obviously be when the sun is shining. You'll then be able to see the gnomon's shadow cast onto the dial. The marked hour-lines indicate the time of day.
