Single Parents Active Kids is a non-profit organisation run on a voluntary basis by single parents for single parents with active children. They run four to five events per week at various locations around Melbourne, including gatherings at beaches and parks, dinners, movies and zoos, as well as camps throughout the year. While the vast majority of events are children orientated, there are also some 'parents only' nights. The focus is on getting together in a positive, welcoming and social environment.


Single Parents Active Kids is offering a free family fun day on Sunday 16th March, from 12 noon to 5.00pm, at the Logan Reserve, Pier St, Altona. So if you're a single parent, please come along and bring the kids. On offer is a free sausage sizzle, face painting for the kids, as well as other children's entertainment.


The Family Fun Days are a way of 'testing the water' to see what the group offers and whether you'd like to get more involved. If you are interested in joining the group, the membership costs $25 for six months, or $45 for 12 months (which includes a one-off joining fee of $5).

To give you an idea of the diversity of activities offered to members of Single Parents Active Kids, a Hunters and Collectors concert (22nd March) and tandem hang gliding at Seymour (30th March) are being organised. There are many other activities on offer throughout the year, as you can see from the group's calendar . It certainly seems like there's something for everyone!
