I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
The Sound of Music is an absolute classic and if you've ever wanted to see it on the big screen, this event is your chance. It's called Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music and will feature just three shows at the State Theatre.
The sessions will take place over a single weekend, with evening performances on Friday February 21 and Saturday February 22 at 7.30pm, and a matinee on Sunday February 23 at 1.00pm. Tickets can be bought through Ticketmaster, either by visiting the website or calling 1300 139 588.
As you might have guessed from the name, these screenings aren't just about watching the film. Audience participation is encouraged, particularly in the form of singing, with the lyrics to each song displayed on the screen so everyone can join in.
Guests are also encouraged to dress up for the shows. Obvious choices include Frauline Marias, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes and lonely goatherds, but there are so many options when you start thinking about it.
If you do decide to dress up, you can even participate in an audience costume parade, to be judged by returning host Marika Aubrey. She has recently been performing in the popular South Pacific and will be helped in her decision by the Audience Clap-O-Meter.
