Roll your memory back to the days of the Simpsons
The sport of Roller Derby is definitely not for the faint-hearted, yet looks heaps of fun for the spectators and those players who are into some fast fun. Did you know our very own Sun State Roller Girls (SSRG) flat track roller derby league are currently ranking number one in Queensland and number two in Australia?

Roller Derby began in Chicago, USA in 1935 and was initially intended as a competition for the popular dance offs of the time. The inaugural rules had the event as an endurance race as it was not intended to be a contact sport. However, when the skaters collided and the crowd roared with excitement, it was then suggested to change the game to increase audience attendance. This proved to be a good decision.
SSRG is a not-for-profit organisation and was established in 2007, originally on the South Side of Brisbane. The organisation now has members from Logan and Brisbane and their goal is to develop and promote the women's sport creating an interest for new young players and volunteers.

Sun State Roller Girls (SSRG) are raising funds to send their representative team "The Swarm" to compete in America. Their next fundraiser event is a "Classic Simpsons Trivia Night". How well do you know the characters of the Simpsons? Questions will only cover the first ten episodes, so there will be plenty of answers for everyone to get correct. Prizes will be for the Smartest Team, the Best Team Name and the Best Dressed Attendee.
Catering for the evening will be by Paco's Paella and there will be drinks available for purchase from the bar. Tickets can be purchased from Evenbrite for $15.00 per person or a team of six people for $60.00. If you pre-purchase a plate of paella and a sangria by 1st May, you can secure the discount deal of $30.00 per person. However you can purchase general tickets up to the Saturday of the Trivia Night.
