Like many other live events and gigs around Adelaide, Simply Sade at The Gov - Main Room was postponed and rescheduled due to the recent COVID-19 lockdown in SA. However, on Sunday. 22 August 2021, with the lockdown over, Bonnie Lee Gales and the BoyZ created on stage, a lively and sophisticated collection of Sade's funkiest rhythms and most loved songs of the '80s and '90s in a fantastic, suave and engaging style.

The program is a sophisticated mix of hip-hop, reggae, funk, soul and jazz with a selection of memorable songs mainly from Sade's early albums, featuring four major hits, Your Love is King, Smooth Operator, Hang onto your Love and When am I Going to Make a Living from the first LP Diamond Life. Other songs that highlight the beautiful music of Sade are No Ordinary Love, Secrets of Your Soul and Surrender Your Love. Bonnie introduces each song with background details of Sade, her band and her songs, which engages you more in her entertaining performance.

When Diamond Life was released, it was initially a much under-rated album with young audiences more attracted to Michael Jackson's Thriller and Prince's Purple Rain. However, Sade and her musicians created a collection of their own songs being a sophisticated mix of sharp and fresh hip-hop that has aged well. Most music lovers who are introduced to Sade today receive it just as audiences did when Diamond Life was first released.

Bonnie Lee Galea, is well-known for her exciting and entertaining performances of different styles of music, whether it be The Blonde Bombshells of Jazz, or reviving the music of Bessie Smith, Billie Holliday, Dinah Washington. Accompanied by her Boyz, some of Adelaide's finest musicians, Bonnie captures the smooth, cool and sexy style of Sade.
