Simply Sade - Fringe Show Review
Sade is internationally known for her smooth, melodic voice and seamless incorporation of different styles of music. She remains an icon of the 80s music scenes with her multi-awarded songs, we still have 'Smooth Operator' playing in our head when we hear her name.
And for our greatest delight, Bonnie & her BoyZ are reviving Sade's most acclaimed moments with a range of memorable songs like 'Smooth Operator', 'Your Love is King', 'Why Can't We Live Together' and 'When Am I Going to Make a Living' among others.
Performing in the style of Sade, without trying to be Sade, Bonnie Lee Galea on lead vocals is accompanied by some of Adelaide's finest musicians: Michael Rigby on guitar, Quinton Dunne on electric bass and vocals, Michael Bryant on keys and vocals, Peter Raidel on saxophone and Steve Todd on drums and percussion.
A beautiful and warm performance
The result is a sophisticated blend of soul, funk, jazz & Afro-Cuban rhythms capturing beautifully the musical universe of Sade. To add drama to the experience, the show has projections, lighting effects and beautiful costumes. Bonnie is stunning in her sparkling dress, dancing barefoot on stage, smiling, singing and inviting the audience to join in.
Her musicians are having a blast on stage, treating us with some beautiful solos, entertaining the crowd, filling the room with all those fantastic sounds and rhythms. Not only you will enjoy listening to this performance but also looking at what is happening on the stage, the lights, the pictures on the big screens, the dance… the decor.
Fairy lights, projections and lightning effects at the Arkaba Hotel
Bonnie beautiful tone and pitch and the sound of her BoyZ wraps the audience in a farandole of rhythms: it is smooth, sleek, sexy, melodic… Simply Sade! Each song is introduced by a bit of story about the band, song facts, and of course about Sade, who is she, where does her name come from, anecdotes about her life, her different albums. It is absolutely delightful and it will put a big smile on your face and make you want to dance all night long.
Bonnie is stunning in her golden dress
This is the promise of a suave night of soul, funk, jazz and Afro-Cuban sounds and rhythms not to be missed for music or simply Sade lovers!
