Whether it's your first or hundredth date, you need to come up with an activity. Sometimes a night in is nice, but finding the right activity can be difficult. Those of us who like to plan everything out often want a complex and intricate full plan, but it's good to relax and do something simple to help kindle, or rekindle, a romantic flame.

Picnic next to the river Torrens
It's not just me who believes that picnics are an absolute blessing, right? Grab your picnic blanket, some dips, and some bread, and you have yourself a meal, an activity, and a wonderful location to enjoy an afternoon. A picnic can be procured quickly and cheaply, and is a great opportunity. The Torrens river provides a nice water feature to add to your picnicking too, if you do not want to venture further out.

Watch the sunset at Windy Point Lookout (or Brighton or Semaphore)
Sunsets are magical. It is hard to imagine anyone not feeling moved as the sky slowly morphs colours, and the world realigns itself. Windy Point Lookout provides a fantastic (if occasionally bracing) place to see the sunset from, before retreating for an evening's entertainment. Like a picnic, watching a sunset helps with a contemplative and relaxed mindset. Take the opportunity to get some truly memorable photos together.

**Adelaide Gondola
**Did you know there was a Gondola company in Adelaide? This was news to me, and wonderful news at that. I have not had the chance to reach Venice and was delighted to find one of the unique experiences of the city right here. This is another relaxing activity for a lazy afternoon.

Go See a Movie (a classic for a reason)
A cinema date is always a great option, and with the introduction of services such as Gold Class at event cinemas, you can upmarket your evening if you want. Find the latest romantic movie, or whatever suits both your palettes, and have something to discuss before and after, a great boon if it is an early date, and you sometimes run out of small talk.

See a Theatre or Orchestral Performance
If you're looking for something a bit more memorable, or if you want to really bask in culture, find an orchestra or dance performance to attend. You need not dress up too fancily, as smart casual will do (though if you want to dress to the nines, have fun with it!).

Ice Skating
This cool activity is a huge amount of fun, and provides a more active date experience without getting all hot and sweaty (unless you're into that). The Ice Arena is nice and centrally located for your Ice Skating needs, and really this is fun enough that you don't need of make an occasion of it to go ice skating.

Adelaide Lovers Footbridge
This is unlikely your ideal first date, but attaching a lock to the Pont Des Arts footbridge is a fantastic activity for two people wanting to show how much they adore one another. The tradition stems from France, where at New Year, lovers would write their names or initials on a lock, attach it to one of the many bridges across the The Seine River, before throwing the key in, and is symbolic of locking your hearts together. This tradition has been taken up over the Torrens River, and doing this with someone you care deeply for is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.
