Sydney’s first free-roam virtual reality experience
Sydneysiders, the zombie apocalypse has begun. Simosity, Sydney's first free-roam Virtual Reality (VR) experience, will land you in a zombie-infested hotel abandoned by all human inhabitants except for a helpless little girl. It's your mission to rescue her.
Strapped into your VR headset and backpack, and of course, holding a gun, you'll travel over multiple floors of the virtual building, head-shotting zombies and solving some escape room style puzzles during this exhilarating experience.
Once you're in the game, you'll feel like everything in the real world has disappeared. When something in the game looks like it's going to hurt you, you actually feel the fear. Walking out of an upstairs window onto a narrow outdoor ledge is so realistic that your legs will shake, even after you remind yourself that you're actually just putting one foot in front of another on an empty carpeted floor.
During check-in, each individual player has the option to switch off blood, a feature which makes the game accessible to younger players (Simosity's minimum age for players is 13) and squeamish adults. Blood in the game is plentiful and flies close to your face, but hey, you're shooting zombies, you want the satisfaction of watching them bleed, right?
Simosity is a local startup and you may well find yourself being introduced to the game by the very team who developed the experience. Enhancements to Epidemic are in the works along with a whole new VR game, which has nothing to do with zombies, due to be introduced in a few months from now.
