One of the elements of being a super parent is endeavouring to expose your children to as much culture as possible. It's what the guidebooks recommend. It's also kind of fun.
Ballet.
Theatre.
Music.
Educational activities.
Art.
Sport sans the rude songs (depending on your child's age).
And while it can be amazing to experience the look in your child's eyes the first time the orchestra plays the opening chords at a musical, it can also be a bit hit and miss when it comes to the translation between the classics and the kids.
Enter: Simon Tedeschi.
See, Simon isn't your regular kids' performer. He's an Australian national treasure - one of our most highly acclaimed, famous classical pianists.
In fact, he's often described by respected critics and musical peers as "one of the finest artists in the world". "Recipient of prizes such as Symphony Australia's Young Performer of the Year Award, the Legacy Award from the Creativity Foundation (USA), first prize in the Keyboard division of the Royal Overseas League Competition (UK), and a Centenary of Federation Medal. He has performed in major concert halls and for festivals throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia, and for world leaders including former US President George W. Bush, Vladimir Putin, Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama."
So, what's he doing making kids 6 and up laugh? A right decent job, that's what.
A fun, funny show blending the perfect mix of giggles, pants jokes, upside-down playing, and classical piano so brilliant and engaging, you could hear a pin drop in a theatre full of children - that's a snazzy combination.
Presented by UWA and
the AWESOME Festival , Simon Tedeschi - Pianist and Prankster is a journey through Simon's musical life - form his first performance at the Sydney Opera House at age 8 to the "heights of Carnegie Hall".
Simon plays some of his favourite pieces - a balm for the soul of every parent present - and then intersperses the music with touching anecdotes, funny stories, and a couple of cheeky comments thrown in for the oldies.
If you're trying to be a super parent, or you have a mini music aficionado, you need Simon on your team.
