State Library Victoria's FREE online event Signposts: stories for our fragile times on Wed 5 Aug AND Wed 2 Sep 2020 from 10am to 10.30am will be hosted by award-winning author Alexis Wright in this new web series.

Presented in partnership with The Uni of Melb's Faculty of Arts, sit in on her chat with some of Australia's finest storytellers about disaster, resilience and hope; apt subjects for our fragile times. Writers have always been inspired by their environments, so what kind of stories do you think will emerge from these pandemic times?

Get the full details of the event HERE. You can also watch episode one and two via the same link as Alexis talks to Peter Carey and Nicholas Jose. Carey is an author born in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria but now lives in New York and Jose, also an Australian author best-known for his fiction and cultural essays.

The Library doors may be closed but you can still enjoy full access to the best on offer from the comfort of your lounge room. Stories, programs and collections; whatever your interest, look for the themed icons that'll be popping up on the website over the next few weeks that'll let you know whether an item is perfect for the kids, best for book lovers or designed for study-bugs.

There's a vast collection to entertain curious minds with programs through which you can learn something new via tutorials or kick back with a drink and enjoy an author talk like the above event. Librarians are on hand for your burning questions, so settle in with Library In Your Lounge.
