Along the picturesque Caves Road in WAs south west is a quiet holiday village called Siesta Park . Situated right on the beach halfway between Busselton and Dunsborough, the park is great for a simple and relaxing family vacation.

Being right on the beach means the park is great for water based activities. Siesta park has its own private jetty which is great for fishing or cannon-balling off the end of. You can hire kayaks and powerboats or even bring your own and use the onsite launch ramp provided.

For the fishermen Siesta is a great place. Herring, Whiting, Black Cod, Tarwhine and large Tailor frequent the area and there is an abundance of spots to set up for the day. The calm, warm and shallow waters make for an easy job.

For the kids there is plenty of play equipment to explore. The park features four playgrounds with anything but your ordinary equipment. Suspension bridges, rope swings and zip lines are scattered throughout the park and there are plenty of grassy patches and sandy beach for a game of cricket or football.

The park itself is very well shaded with native trees which is great for kids and great for picnics. There are wood BBQs provided throughout the park and an abundance of wooden picnic tables.

The beach side chalets have a small verandah, tin roof, plasterboard walls, a pretty tacky kitchen and small run down bathrooms. It is fine as long as you come expecting to pay a premium for no frills accommodation. The one big downside is the price.

Even in the quiet season you'll be paying over $100 (for up to five people) a night for very basic accommodation. During peak season you can expect to pay up to near $300 per night. Booking as early as possible for peak season is advisable too as the regulars like to get in quickly.

Luckily you will be spending most of your days outside the rooms either exploring the park or adventuring off into the many amazing sights .

our south west has to offer.

Busselton, Dunsborough and Yallingup are all a stone's throw away for any shopping needed and Caves road gives you access to all the best sights in the region.

Siesta park is great place to relax after a long day touring the food, drink and nature that has made the area so famous. For families it is perfect - the abundant open space and quiet surrounds are enough to keep both parents and kids entertained for days, just don't expect anything fancy.
