Having been Italian all my life, I have a particularly high standard when it comes to eating my native dishes. One place I will recommend is Siena's Leederville. As soon as I walked in, I saw the pictures of famous Italian sites and peoples which adorned the walls. They invite you in, almost pull you in. You notice the La Dolce Vita poster and you remember all the wonderful things that Italian culture has brought to us. Then, you see the waiters. Gold chains, check. Tight black shirts, check. Strong, thick Italian accents, check. And we are rolling!
However, the main crux of the amazing-ality of Siena's is the menu. Pasta and pizza are the specialities. I had the chargrilled Filetto with pepper sauce, salad and potatoes. Perfectly cooked with the middle still pink, I was dying of excitement. My dinner guest had a truffle rigatoni dish and was equally as impressed. She finished her meal before I even started.
The desserts were not only oozing with goodness, they were literally spilling appeal. It is impossible to go past a beautiful gelato, but if you can, go a cake. Moral of the story: Get yourself to Leederville and enjoy a classic, Italian meal.
