Great for a family day out, Sidetracked Entertainment Centre in South Oakleigh features myriad attractions for all ages. As well as the amusement machines, you can play mini-golf, bowling, go-karting and laser tag.

A huge range of arcade games take prime position in the centre of Sidetracked. Similar to Intencity, the machines spew out tickets following your game, which you then collect and redeem for prizes. Novelty items, soft toys and even electronics are available in exchange for your tickets; although the amount needed for the more exciting items makes them nearly unattainable.

At the back of the centre is a go-karting track, which can be used by drivers of all degrees of experience. As well as regular adult go-karts, there are also double karts and mini karts for children. Prices range from $8.90 to $29.90 per ride, depending on the track and go-kart type.

The Highway 66 mini-bowling alley boasts eight lanes of tenpin bowling, which has been shrunk down to a fraction of the size of regular bowling. The novelty value of miniature bowling makes it an enjoyable family activity which still engages your competitive streak. It costs $9.90 per adult per game, or $7.90 concession.

Laserforce laser tag is what most people know Sidetracked for, with the multi-level game catering for groups of all sizes. A favourite for kids parties, laser tag is equally enjoyable for teenagers and adults. Many different game formats, called missions, are available at $9.90 each. The game is played in a maze, with light and audio effects enriching the experience.

The indoor mini-golf course, Castle Putt-A-Lot, is an 18-hole game decorated in a medieval style. It costs $6.90 per adult per game. Deals are available if you choose to participate in several of the amusements on offer- see the pricelist for more information.

Sidetracked is a favourite amongst kids, but could also be an interesting setting for a date, as you and your partner get competitive. A café is located inside the amusement centre, offering fast food and snacks to sustain your intense game-playing.
