Sicario is an American film about Mexican drug gangs starring an English actor.
If you're looking for a Hollywood style kick ass action adventure, Sicario is not for you. It is an immensely intense no nonsense film that will offer you no laughs. Sicario comes with a terrifying yet terrific script and is without doubt one of the best of its kind.
Blue eye action hero, Emily Blunt plays an FBI officer, Kate, who joins a government group led by Matt (Josh Brolin) and Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) to track down a druglord operating in the US and Mexian border. Soon Kate begins to question Matt's ways and discovers Alejandro has a dark past which makes her question everything about the mission.
Not for the faint hearted, this film comes with disturbing images, street gun fights and nudity. Sicario skilfully creates a realistic picture of the lawless lands of Mexican border and the brutal plights of people living in those lands amidst daily gang wars, murder and kidnappings.
Besides a stunning storyline, this film benefits from a good cast and choreography. It takes its plot seriously and concentrates more on creating tension rather than cliche scenes and visual effects. Blunt's performance as a trained and idealistic agent is outstanding and reminds us of a similar role in Edge of Tomorrow where she plays a skilled soldier against co-star Tom Cruise.
The balance between right, wrong and the grey area between the two in Sicario will split the audience allowing a subjective view about the movie's plot.
Sicario belongs on the 'must see' list of movies for 2015.
