Enjoy your authentic green curry overlooking the rainforest
Siam Thai Restaurant is located in a quiet corner of South Bank Parklands, overlooking a peaceful lily pond, ringed with palm trees and singing frogs. They have a shady verandah with outdoor seating, and another air conditioned indoor seating area which provides perfect respite from the sub-tropical heat.
Our meal started with some home made mixed entrees, the stand out for me were the curry puffs and dipping sauce (pictured below). I was particularly impressed by the creative A La Carte menu at Siam Thai Restaurant which included some Australian touches, such as Barramundi, Moreton Bay Bugs, Soft Shell Crab, and fresh local mangoes. They have a selection of set banquets for groups of four or more, and the restaurant would really make an ideal venue for a function or celebration.
I chose the Kra Tieam Prik Tai - Moreton Bay Bugs, which are a "House Specialty" and they tasted great, served with garlic and pepper sauce on a bed of steamed bok choi greens. My husband chose a traditional dish known as Kra Praow - stir fried basil leaves with bamboo shoots, tofu, beans and chilli, which he really enjoyed.
The food was delicious and we found the generous sized servings ideal for sharing. The chef happily caters to different allergy/food requirements, and they do not use any MSG in the kitchen. Siam Thai Restaurant also offer a range of excellent value for money discounts: 5% off your meal if you "Like" them on Facebook, 10% off all take away meals, 20% off your take away meal between 5 - 6 pm, and 15% off for a return visit within 14 days. I highly recommend Siam Thai Restaurant as a great place for lunch or dinner, with guaranteed smiles at any time - just don't forget to leave room for dessert.
