On my dreary drive to work with sleep encrusted eyes and a caffeine craving so bad, I'm pretty sure I'd sell my soul for a decent cup, I see a sign on the corner "Coffee" and my morning is looking up. This is what a good coffee can do.
Shutter & Brew is not your average coffee stop. As the name suggests, this café brings together lovers of coffee and photography into a little slice of creative heaven in the northern Brisbane suburb.
The warm lighting and rustic wooden panelling really compliments the amazing photographs that line the walls. Local photographers can take advantage of this wonderful wall space and display their photos for the patrons to admire and purchase, whilst sipping their cappuccinos.
There are plenty of old photography books available to peruse and even some pretty cool "old school" cameras, funky photography inspired décor and camera related accessories for those wanting to buy a unique gift.
And unlike a lot of other cafes, Shutter & Brew keep their music set to a nice, low level which allows you to relax, take in the ambience or enjoy a good conversation.
The service is as warm and friendly as the café itself, with Campbell and Laura seeming genuinely happy to engage with their customers.
Opening this unique shop late 2013, they have been arousing a lot of interest and customers with the opportunity to hone your photography skills over a delicious home made lemon slice. Laura bakes up a storm while Campbell mentors and teaches photography (with prices starting at around $35 per session). They also organise photo walks and group outings with other like minded people, if you are that way inclined.
