Is the gate worth opening? Absolutely
The Clare Valley Wine Region is still relatively undiscovered and even when you feel like you have seen it all, you then find another cellar door...or gate!

Located in Watervale, about a 15-minute drive from the town of Clare, this gorgeous little place which was named Cellar Door Of The Year in 2015, offers an amazing selection of wines. You really do feel like you are entering a cosy farmhouse as you walk past the old stables and farm equipment with geese gesturing you in through the gate.

Guests are able to taste Shut The Gates assortment of whites and reds and if they choose, select a bottle to enjoy in the courtyard out the front. If you wish to take this relaxing experience further, the cellar door offer a selection of local produce to put together your own platter to enjoy with your chosen drop.

Shut The Gate also make you feel just as welcome when you bring your kids along. The gorgeous staff even offered my children cheese and crackers during our tasting time on a recent holiday.

If you are after a relaxed environment, with friendly, knowledgeable staff, award winning wines and a true sample of Clare Valley, then Shut The gate Cellar Door is right for you
