This Christmas, be sure to take a trip to the kingdom of Far Far Away when Cumberland Council presents their fairytale event, Shrek the Halls, at Auburn Botanic Gardens. It's going to be one big mayhem of green merriness with loads of Christmas lights, carols, activities and movies.
The free festive family fun begins at 6pm and concludes at 10pm. Here are some highlights you won't want to miss:-
It's here that you can meet the Stars of Shrek Forever After – Shrek and Princess Fiona.
You can also decorate your own Gingerbread man and meet the Gingerbread man himself.
Puss in Boots Disco Party
Expect a load of fun partying, as they do in the Shrek movies, with DJ Puss in Boots getting you moovin' and groovin' to the music.
Far Far Away Carnival
Enjoy free rides at this carnival, including the Far Far Away Carousel.
Fairy Godmother's Face Painting
Get your face painted and take part in some other fun activities suitable for children of all ages.
Christmas Carol Performances
Delight in some carol favourites, as sung by local community groups, on the Avenue of Remembrance.
Christmas Lights & Decorations
Take in the decorations before nightfall and see them shine further as they turn into a dazzling lit display when the sun sets. They'll certainly capture your attention and have your camera lens clicking madly.
Beginning at 8pm in the amphitheatre, you can join the Stars of Shrek putting their own spin on holiday traditions with the screening of Shrek the Halls! (2007) before being entertained by the Shrek Forever After (2010) film where a burdened Shrek going through a mid-life crisis gets tricked by Rumpelstiltskin into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast into a dark alternate timeline with Rumpel ruling supreme.
The first screening runs for 21mins, whilst the second runs for 1hr 33mins.
These include writing and posting letters to Santa, Christmas shopping from market stalls, checking out the show bags on offer and devouring delicious food from stalls and trucks.
