Are you bored with the same old birthday parties? Another roller/ice skating party? Another trampoline party? Another party in the park? Well, this is how I felt when my daughter was turning 13 and she wanted me to pull something pretty fantastic out of the bag. Well, I think I did pull something pretty good out the bag when I suggested a limo party!

We booked through Showtime Limousines as I have heard good things about them. I 'liked' their Facebook page and read some reviews, which convinced me to book with them. I was blown away with the photos of the inside of the limousines!

My very fussy, nearly teenage daughter thought a limo party was a fab idea (phew!) and we started to plan the logistics. We made the decision to hire the 16 seat purple stretch Hummer and she wanted to be picked up from school for maximum impact!

We thought it would be a fun idea to have the invite as a ticket to ride in the limousine and went about designing the invitations. I contacted a cake maker to see if she could make a purple limousine cake. To keep the costs down, we opted for a cake topper rather than a whole cake. We then bought a cheap mud cake from the supermarket and put the cake topper on that. She did a wonderful job and it looked great, especially when we lit the sparkler candles!

When the limousine turned up at the end of school, it had the desired effect my teenager wanted; it was head turning! Mike, our driver was just wonderful and he literally rolled out the purple carpet for the 14 excitable children to board the limousine. I sat at the back with my friend as it's not all about the children! We deserved a treat too!

supplied the music but we could have used our own if we had wanted to. We used their music as it linked to the 6 TV screens and played the music video to go with the songs. That went down really well with everyone. Soft drinks were supplied and there was plenty of cup holders to put the open drinks in. We literally drove around for an hour waving at people walking and pretending we were rich and famous! We initially saw lots of children from school and the impact of the purple stretch Hummer was 'job done'!

We continued with the purple theme with the balloons and I bought some plastic champagne flutes from the supermarket. To give the glasses more bling, I tied some curling ribbon around the bottom and filled them with fizzy apple juice.

To make things as easy as possible, I ordered pizza which was delivered just as we arrived home from the limousine ride. We toasted the birthday girl with the 'champagne' and everyone dug into the pizza. They kept quiet for quite a while, eating and re-living the limousine ride. They had time to go out into the garden while I organised the cakes. We sang Happy Birthday, demolished the cakes and then it was time for them to go home! Big thumbs up!

So next time you need to arrange a birthday party, consider a limousine ride; it was different, a great success, hassle free, easy and relatively cheap. A result all round!
