I'd seen the caravan many times on my trips into Adelaide and thought it was about time I stopped in and sampled the coffee.
The mastermind of this venture is a coffee lover named Tyrone Carruthers who has a roastery in McLaren Vale and provides specialty, hand roasted, fair trade coffee to local restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and providores. DalMare, Italian for 'by the sea' is his brand. He recently decided to expand his coffee offerings so that commuters could benefit. The Short Black Caravan is the happy result.
There are a few rustic stools, food crates in a previous life, for those who wish to break their journey and sit and enjoy their coffee in situ. Most of the regulars, an increasing crowd, choose coffee 'to go'.
As a long black drinker I'm often disappointed in my cafe purchases. Espresso coffees are often bitter to my taste, however my Short Black Caravan coffee was perfect and made my commute to the city happy and glossy.
