Forget your 15 minutes of fame, a lot can happen in just 10. You can enjoy ‘The Fruits of War’, join in with ‘Schapelle, a Protest Song’ or you can even take in the ‘History of the World in 7 and a half minutes’ and still have time to spare.

A collaboration of talented writers, directors and actors from here and abroad will put on the best 10 minutes of their lives when short theatre festival rolls into Brisbane from September 2 to 13.

With a nine year history in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore and Malaysia, 2009 marks the festival's first appearance in Brisbane at the Powerhouse. has been credited with unearthing some major theatre talent and spring boarding them into the big leagues. According to the website:

“The ten-minute play is now very established as a theatrical form and writers are testing and expanding the form all the time. It’s amazing how much you can pack into a ten minute play these days.”

The Brisbane event has a line up of 40 plays over two weeks, and that’s down from the 550 entries received from writers around the country.

Those looking for their way into the industry can attend the masterclasses to learn more about writing, directing and acting. They are separate classes but if you’re the next Quentin Tarantino feel free to book for all three, but be quick.

If you’re an aspiring writer, director or actor, be sure to subscribe to the official newsletter to keep an eye on all the key dates for the 2010 Brisbane event.
