Grabbing the audience by the short and girlies

St Kilda's National Theatre will play host to another round of Short and Girly, the Melbourne comedy scene's fundraiser for the Victorian AIDS Council.

The gala event began in 2006, featuring the cream of Melbourne's female comic crop. This year there's a little testosterone to temper the evening, with Adam Richard, Tom Ballard from Reality Check, Tom Gleeson, Joel Creasey and Kevin Kropiyeri joining Rachel Berger, Cal Wilson (Slide Show), Hannah Gadsby (Please Like Me), Claire Hooper and Fiona O'Loughlin. Though few would call Tom Gleeson or Adam Richard a bit of burly, the whimsical name nevertheless gives you the general idea.

The Victorian AIDS Council was founded in 1983 in an effort to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic. The organisation raises awareness of HIV and AIDS, providing education on prevention as well as treatment, care and counselling for people living with HIV.

Many of the performers have been supporting the Victorian AIDS Council for years, and are donating their time for the event.
